Smart and Safe Belays are more expensive than traditional static belay lanyards as they utilize a form of technology that only allows one gate on one lanyard to be opened at a time. This minimizes the potential for a “total unclip” while still allowing the participant to choose their rate of travel on the elements and when to move from one element to the next.
