Experiential Systems, Inc. (ESI)  is an ISO 9001 certified full-service challenge course construction company that has been building ropes courses and climbing towers for over 35 years.

Experiential Systems designs and installs low challenge courses, high ropes courses, aerial adventure parks, zip lines, climbing walls and climbing towers, commercial playgrounds and shade structures. ESI trains instructors and facilitators and conducts challenge course inspections, maintenance and repairs,  operational reviews, and staff certifications for courses built by ESI as well as those built by other companies. Our builders have many years of experience building adventure elements for the outdoor industry. ESI also offers consultation expertise in course design, administration and risk management planning.

ESI was formally incorporated in 1995 and is licensed and fully insured for all services offered.  Prior to becoming ISO 9001 Certified ESI was an Accredited Professional Vendor Member (PVM) of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) from 2002 through 2024 and is currently a B2B member. ESI was also a Founding Member of The Alliance Collaborative. Our key staff have over 300 years of combined experience in the experiential adventure field. Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@experientialsystems.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Experiential Systems, Inc. (ESI) is a full-service design-build firm. We design, engineer, and install a massive variety of structures, including traditional high and low ropes courses, commercial zip line canopy tours, indoor and outdoor climbing walls, tactical military training courses, and high-throughput aerial adventure parks. We cater to summer camps, universities, resorts, and commercial operators worldwide.

Absolutely. The regulatory landscape for aerial adventure is complex, but ESI’s engineering and construction practices strictly adhere to the most current life-safety codes. We build to ANSI/ACCT 03-2019 and ANSI/PRCA 03-2014 standards, as well as ASTM International standards, which are heavily referenced by state amusement ride codes.

We do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach. Our in-house design team works directly with your organization to evaluate your specific site, target demographic, and operational goals. Whether you are building in a dense forest relying on trees for support, or in a flat field requiring massive utility poles and steel structures, ESI custom-engineers every element to maximize throughput, safety, and participant engagement.

Annual structural and operational safety inspections must be performed by a qualified, third-party professional. Because ESI is aligned with ISO 17020 inspection practices, our credentials are unparalleled. We deploy highly trained inspectors holding certifications from multiple governing bodies, including ACCT, PRCA, NAARSO, and AIMS. This ensures our team is qualified to inspect facilities in every North American jurisdiction.

This is where ESI excels. Many states have updated their laws to regulate commercial zip lines and adventure parks under strict ASTM amusement ride codes. Because ESI is ISO 9001 Certified, we utilize a formalized, audited system to determine the specific laws of the Jurisdiction Having Authority (JHA) where your course is located. We conduct our inspections to ensure you are fully compliant with the exact legal codes governing your specific state.

Industry standards (including ACCT, PRCA, and ASTM) dictate that all commercial challenge courses, climbing walls, and zip lines must undergo a comprehensive, documented inspection by a qualified external professional at least once every 12 months. Additionally, your in-house staff must conduct and log routine daily and periodic (monthly/quarterly) visual and tactile inspections of all life-safety gear and structural elements.

tactile inspections of all life-safety gear and structural elements. Yes. ESI’s Training and Certification department holds full accreditation from the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) and is aligned with ISO 21001 and ISO 17024 standards. Unlike standard industry peer-reviews that might only briefly evaluate a training program once every few years, our AEE Accreditation requires an exhaustive, independent deep-dive into our curriculum, instructional design, and multi-day field operations.

Owning the right equipment is useless if your staff does not know how to safely operate it. Our AEE-accredited training programs go far beyond basic knot-tying. We train your staff on advanced risk management, emergency procedures, industry-compliant high-angle rescue, and group facilitation techniques. Participants who pass the written and practical testing receive an industry-recognized practitioner certification.

ESI operates on a global scale. With a highly experienced team of 65 employees operating out of 24 states, we service clients nationally across the United States and internationally. From massive commercial parks in the Caribbean to remote summer camps in the Pacific Northwest, we have the logistical infrastructure to design, build, inspect, and train anywhere in the world.

Historically, many facilities searched for a "PVM" (Professional Vendor Member) to build or inspect their course based on a peer-review system. ESI chose to evolve beyond peer review. We are the first and only challenge industry vendor in North America to be ISO 9001 Certified for all services. This means our Quality Management System (QMS) is audited by independent, third-party international registrars, guaranteeing absolute consistency, rigorous document control, and unparalleled legal defensibility for our clients.

You can't build a great building on a weak foundation. You must have a solid foundation if you're going to have a strong superstructure.
