At ESI we have over 35+ years of experience in the design, construction and installation of zip lines, canopy tours and aerial adventure parks. Whether your needs are for a single line zip line, short or long, steep ride or gentle glide. Our sales and design team can provide a zip line design that meets your operational, geographical and budgetary needs. Our experience navigating the permitting process and presence of NAARSO, AIMS and ACCT Certified Inspectors allow us to work collaboratively with clients and states to ensure their installation meets and/or exceeds all current industry standards (ACCT and ASTM) as well as current local regulations of zip lines. Our builders are certified and have many years of experience building adventure elements for the outdoor industry.
Our Zip lines are a great activity on their own or as additions to other structures. They can be added to climbing towers or ropes courses, a great way for participants to finish their high adventure activities.
Zip lines are a great attraction for fun and can also be used for educational purposes as well. No matter what you are looking to do with your new zip line ESI can help create the perfect set up for your organization’s needs.

A single zip line is a standalone ride from point A to point B. A canopy tour or zipline tour is an integrated, sequential experience where participants navigate through a forested environment via a series of connected zip lines, suspended aerial bridges, and elevated platforms, often without touching the ground until the end of the tour.
Our qualified designers and/or licensed structural engineers meticulously calculate the exact vector forces, cable sag, tension, and rider aerodynamics. We design the slope and sag to ensure participants reach the landing platform at a safe, thrilling, and easily managed speed, factoring in varying participant weights and environmental conditions.
Safety and compliance are our foundational priorities. ESI designs, engineers, and builds commercial canopy tours to meet or exceed the stringent safety standards set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), the Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA), and ASTM F2959.
Typically, yes. Elevated platforms, launch decks, landing towers, and staircases alter structural loads and generally require municipal construction permits. ESI's licensed structural engineers provide the necessary 2D blueprints, site plans, and load calculations required to help you successfully navigate your local regulatory and permitting process.
Yes, we specialize in tree-based installations. When utilizing natural supports, we perform comprehensive holistic health assessments to ensure the trees have the proper root collar integrity, healthy bark, and adequate load-bearing capacity to safely anchor the dynamic forces of a zip line.
If your site lacks mature, healthy trees, ESI can construct hybrid systems or fully artificial structures. We regularly design and install sprawling canopy tours using engineered, pressure-treated wooden utility poles or custom-fabricated galvanized steel towers to achieve the height and distance your tour requires.
ESI relies on primary and secondary brakes that do not require the rider to do any braking. We do not build hand brakes, as relying on a participant's grip strength and a short training session is insufficient to prevent incidents. Instead, we install advanced, hands-free systems like the zipSTOP or zipKEA, which provide smooth, automated deceleration for riders of all weights.
Timelines depend heavily on the length of the tour, terrain access, and local permitting. Engineering and permitting typically take 2 to 3 months. Physical construction ranges from a few weeks to several months. Total project time from initial design to grand opening averages 4 to 12 months.
Yes, ESI offers complete, turnkey equipment packages. We supply everything your operation needs, including zip line-specific full-body or sit harnesses, tandem pulleys, impact-rated helmets, and heavy-duty lanyards, sourced directly from trusted industry-leading manufacturers.
Trees are dynamic, growing structures. Facilities must regularly monitor tree health for root rot or insect damage. ESI provides specialized ongoing maintenance to manage "bolt overgrowth," safely backing off hardware and adjusting cable tension to prevent tree constriction and maintain the system's structural integrity.
Yes. A safe canopy tour requires highly competent guides. Our AEE-accredited training department provides comprehensive, site-specific instruction. Your staff will learn how to manage safe platform launches, operate specific braking systems, perform mid-line high-angle rescues, and execute daily operational safety checks.
